VoIP calls with windows phone

Installed OctroTalk on my Lumia 920 for my SIP needs. OctroTalk, an integrated instant messaging application (google), VoIP call, SIP call, video chat / conference, live video streaming and P2P file transfer application. It is available for Apple (iPad, iPhone, OS X), Nokia Smartphones (Symbian OS), Android phone, Android tablet, Window phone and Windows desktop, seems to be a powerhouse application.

Here is the setting for messagenet

Username= URI of your Messagenet

SIP on Anna and Belle

Hi All! I have tried sip services on Anna and Belle. It works as with earlier Symbian versions.

Just download Sip VOIP 3.1 v1.0 for Nokia Anna and for Belle.

Once you have downloaded “SIP_VoIP_3_1_Settings_Symbian_3_v1_0_en.sis” (see earlier instructions for details), you have to create a sip profile in “settings/connectivity/admin. settings/sip settings” .

Next you have to go to “settings/connectivity/admin. settings/Net settings/advanced VoIP settings” and create a new service.

Now you have sip/VoIP available for you.
You can check this by opening your contacts. At the top of your screen you should see four icons/tab sheets and one of them should be a globe with a phone in front. Select this icon. Here you should see sign in (CCC) . Click on this to logon to your sip service provider.
CCC is the name of your sip profile.

Follow the instructions as for the earlier OS version for more details.

“Nokia Configuration Tool” for Windows7/XP

Anyhow, if you feel uncomfortable with the Phone interface setting your VoIP there is a “Nokia Configuration Tool” PC (Windows7 / Windows XP) application to manage VoIP and other settings on Nokia E and N Series phones.

All Nokia E Series and some other Nokia models support VoIP (SIP) natively, i.e., a SIP client is integrated into their firmware. Here you find setting for another Finnish VoIP provider, NETTIPUHELIN.FI.

Edit SIP profiles

E72: Select Menu > Ctrl. panel > Settings and Connection > SIP settings.

C6, E7, E8: Select Menu > Settings and Connectivity > Admin. settings > SIP settings

To create a SIP profile, select Options > New SIP profile > Use

Disturbing clicking and noise heard on some calls

I’ve noticed some breakdowns and disturbing clicking on some calls. Finally got’enlightenment’.

It’s the CN, “Comfort Noise”, codec.

I recommended to disable “Comfort Noise” (CN) in SIP profile, to get better voice quality. This is a correction to my earlier Posts; Codecs post and setup post. “Comfort Noise” (CN) is causing voice breakdowns, disturbing clicking and noise on some calls.
